The Art of a Smashing Foot and a Destroying Punch

Can't really abduct the hips nowadays. Jadon and I agreed that we would work on our flexibility by practicing Karate. Jadon was inspired by a Crane Kick a la Danielson and the thought that he may be able to drop me in living room death match. We went to class and found sparring partners to be all 80 lbs or less. I opted out. Jadon opted in. Jadon takes Tae Kwan Do lessons twice a week with a class of about 15. His instructor shows tough love saying if they ever use Tae Kwan Do to "bully" they will be kicked out and "never" welcome to return. One student even asked, "Could we come back next year?" The instructor replied with an resounding, "No, never!" I was happy to see there was no enabling going on. Tae Kwan Do offers some great teachings of self-discipline and self-defense. With alot of hardwork and perserverance, Jadon hopes to one day acquire his tangerine belt...or was it fuscia?

Ever get sick of clever titles?

I do. Most times I open cbssportsline.com or espn.com there's some tricky title like this. Makes me happy to subscribe to mass media.

Here's Jadon with the board running some killer slopes and giving me the "damn, put that camera away" look.

To view video, turn your head 90 degrees to the left.

Updating

Some photos of the BWCA. For a full report see Justin's Blog. These photos are doctored a bit. But a photo can't really capture the sunsets up there. Looking forward to getting up there when the fishing are hitting a bit more.

A Lake to Ourselves

Jadon and I made a nice discovery - a lake that's not accessible by motor vehicle. Seems that most people don't like the walking bit. The lake produces some nice bass too. Jadon caught two that he had to fight like he was deep-sea fishing. He laughed the whole time he fought them.

Coach Piatch

This wasn't the greatest lighting, but the pose was classic.

Jadon had 1 month of Coach pitch baseball. He's learned how to catch well this year. His average was .750, he slugged .895 and had and on base percentage of 1.000. He also was in the 40/40 club.

Bugs Et Al

Jadon finds an interest in collecting bug, amphibians and anything else that crawls and doesn't obviously bite. My camera takes good macro pics about 1/20 times. These are the best of the bunch. Most of the pics were taken at a local lake.
